‘Daisy’ not lazy in ATBA Spring Sales Stakes score

The May 7 ATBA Spring Sales Stakes featured a dramatic finish in which Lazy Daisy May was along just in time to edge Winning Vision in the five-furlong event. Winning Vision had led for much of the race, holding odds-on Whiz Hit at bay, only to lose by a nose at the wire in :58.01. All three were trained by Molly Pearson.

Lazy Daisy May, just beaten as the favorite in her career debut in one of the three trials for the event on April 19, is an Arizona-bred daughter of Rocky Bar. Currently owned by Stable H M A, the filly brought $3,500 at the 2012 ATBA Fall Sale for breeder John Campo III.

Bear Facts, who had beaten Lazy Daisy May in their previous encounter, had an eventful start and was never factor. Winning Vision and Whiz Hit had won the other two trials.
