“50 to 1” expected in theaters in spring 2014

“50 to 1,” featuring the story of longshot Kentucky Derby winner Mine That Bird, will be appearing in theaters this spring. Slated to be shown first in New Mexico, where the Mine That Bird connections were based, the movie is expected to open in other areas throughout April. Skeet Ulrich will play trainer Chip Woolley, while jockey Calvin Borel appears as himself in the movie, which was produced, written and directed by racehorse owner Jim Wilson.

Mine That Bird is played by Arizona-bred Sunday Rest, by Sunday Break. H & E Ranch bred the gelding, who was sold at the 2010 ATBA Fall Mixed Sale for $4,000 prior to a brief racing career.
