Arizona-bred Whiz Hit turned in the fastest time among three trials when winning the last of the three events in :51.72 for four and a half furlongs. Running for owner-breeder CJ Racing LLC, the Top Hit gelding overtook pacesetter My Fine Lady to win by three and a half lengths, with Kid Paradise another four and a quarter lengths back in third.
It was a big day for trainer Molly Pearson, who saddled winners of all three trials and additionally picked up a second and two thirds with three other starters; and jockey Adolfo Morales, who won two of the three events and just missed the third in a close finish.
Kicking things off was a front-running victory by Winning Vision, a Kentucky-bred also owned by CJ Racing LLC. Dominating her field, the daughter of Pollard’s Vision won by five and a half lengths in :51.76 over Hit the Bottle.
The second trial featured a tight finish with two Pearson-trained fillies separated by a head at the end. Bear Facts just edged race favorite Lazy Daisy May in :52.55 with nearly seven lengths back to third-place Baby’s Corner. Bear Facts is a Kentucky-bred daughter of Kodiak Kowboy owned by Bar Diamond Ranch, Robert Morgan and Daniel Avena.
