Arizona-bred champion Desert Dawn wins Santa Anita Oaks, third in Kentucky Oaks

With a victory this spring in the Grade 2 Santa Anita Oaks and a third-place finish behind Secret Oath in the Grade 1 Kentucky Oaks, Desert Dawn, champion Arizona-bred 2-year-old filly of 2021, has been a star at 3 for owner and breeder H & E Ranch.

After a maiden special weight victory at Del Mar last August in her second start, Desert Dawn has competed exclusively in graded stakes events in her six starts since, highlighting her 2-year-old campaign with a third-place finish in the Grade 2 Chandelier Stakes at Santa Anita.

A two-time winner from eight starts, Desert Dawn, a daughter of Cupid out of Ashley’s Glory, is trained by Philip D’Amato. She has lifetime earnings of $492,150.
