It has been announced that a buyer – Richard Moore and the Turf Paradise Land Trust – has been secured for Turf Paradise, which had been slated to close on Oct. 1. The closure was also expected to affect the track’s off-track betting sites, causing a loss of 5,000 jobs.
The Daily Racing Form was informed last week that Frank Nickens approached Turf Paradise after a previous sale fell through in recent days. Nickens plans to have racing continue at Turf Paradise in 2024.
Originally, simulcasting was to have ended on Oct. 1, but the Arizona Horsemen’s Benevolent and Protective Association voted to extend simulcasing wagering until Nov. 12.
