The ATBA Spring Sales Stakes on May 6, 2012, was won by Gadsden Purchase, a dark bay/brown gelding by Eddington. Consigned by the University of Arizona, the 2-year-old is trained and co-owned by Doug Oliver. Although Kentucky-bred, the gelding has strong Arizona ties as he was picked out of the 2010 Keeneland November sale by Marvin Fleming, agent for Dorothée and Bill Kieckhefer, who donated him to the UA Equine Center. There he went through the yearling training and sales prep classes with students of the Equine Science and Race Track Industry programs. Meanwhile, Claiborne Farm is using him in their advertising to promote his sire. Congratulations to all the connections of Gadsden Purchase!
