The Arizona Thoroughbred Breeders Association (ATBA) is an agent of the State assigned to authenticate Arizona-Breds. ATBA has been granted authority for the Arizona-Bred certification as per the Arizona Revised Statute $5-114, as amended to Chapter 238 of the Senate Bill 1475 and signed by the Governor, November 22, 1988. All procedures described in conjunction with this program will be accomplished through the ATBA.
Requirements for Broodmare registration:
1. Application:
Submit a copy of the mare’s Jockey Club registration papers to the ATBA. This is needed for identification purposes. The mare remains in the Arizona Broodmare registry for the rest of her life, or until ownership of the mare changes.
2. Ownership Change:
Submit a copy of the mare’s Jockey Club registration papers to the ATBA to record the transfer of ownership in the Arizona Broodmare registry.
Fees:
- Initial registration of a broodmare: $10
- Transfer of ownership of a broodmare: $10
Procedures:
Annually, owners and/or breeders will be requested to provide information to the ATBA regarding their mares and foals to update the registry.
Stallion owners will be requested by August 1 each year to submit to the ATBA copies of the respective “Report of Mares Bred” they have submitted to the Jockey Club.
