The winner and runner-up of the ATBA Spring Sales Stakes returned to win and finish second in their respective divisions of the ATBA Fall Sales Stakes. Springtime victor Gadsden Purchase gave way late to finish second to Lewiston in the colt division of the event, while Youbetshewon drew off to a commanding victory in the filly division an hour later.
Lewiston, from the first crop of the War Chant stallion El Roblar, won the six-furlong event by three-quarters of a length in 1:11.28. Bred by Fleming Thoroughbred Farm LLC, Lewiston was winning his second straight race at the Turf Paradise meet, having finished third in his career debut at Assiniboia Downs.
Youbetshewon took the lead nearing the turn in the filly division of the Fall Sales Stakes and widened her margin through the stretch to win by seven and a quarter lengths in 1:11.89. The first winner for freshman sire Ibetiwin as well as his first stakes winner, Youbetshewon has won four of seven starts to date, including the Club House Special Stakes at Columbus. She was bred by Ted Ford.
Both Lewiston and Youbetshewon are Arizona-breds. A full brother to the latter was offered at the 2012 Fall Mixed Sale on Oct. 18 but was bought back at $4,500.
