Having broken his maiden in his previous outing at Santa Anita, Highway Boss ran on late to win the five and a half-furlong Everett Nevin by a head over Global Magician. Prior to that he ran fifth behind Brookerson in the ATBA Spring Sales Stakes at Turf Paradise in May.
