The Ann Owens Distaff Handicap honors one of Arizona’s leading ladies of racing. Ann and Richard Owens’ Triple AAA Ranch has been the leading breeder more than 25 times since 1984. Until her passing in 1999 Ann Owens was directly involved in the breeding and racing of many Arizona Champions of such fame as Faro, Fool the Experts, The Breeze, Crafty’s Bingo, Classy Craft, and all-time leading AZ-Bred earner Coyote Lakes. Ann Owens actively supported the ATBA and its numerous functions, including the Arizona Thoroughbred Breeders’ Festival.
